The People's Army of Megaslava

In the cold vacuum of space, the fire of revolutionary communism warms the hearts of The People... The radiance of Marx and His teachings touching the far corners of the Milky Way Galaxy... Or at least an irrelevant section of the Scutum Constellation.


 The People's Republic of Megaslava, swept away in the tide of progress, is a small star state existing largely in isolation from events that grip the galaxy, ignorant of their unimportance and resolute in their mission to bring the glory of the People's struggle to the downtrodden masses... To remove the gilded bourgeoisie slipper from the neck of the proletariat.

Entirely unaware of their relative position in the political power structure at large, the Grand Presidium of the People's Republic of Megaslava have despatched a force to the nearby Fentana-Natikoma hab swarm, to bring liberation from the fascist oppressor. Unbeknownst to them, Fentana-Natikoma is being courted by a great power of immeasurable strength and will seize upon the opportunity to flex its muscles and prove it's worth as a righteous, if not also heavily armed, benefactor.

The objective in creating the Megaslavan imagi-nation for gaming purposes is really just to outline what I'm trying to pull off... Taking a bunch of 1:100 scale cold war models and making them vaguely sci-fi while still maintaining the look and feel of the 1980s Soviet... At least as I've imagined them... As an ad hoc formation of cool looking tanks with hemispherical turrets and grimey tracks.

Khurasan T-90 size comparison to Team Yankee T-72

I went ahead and bought a T-90 and a T-64B from Khurasan miniatures, because they are cool and it would be fun to use them. I received them both yesterday and I got to work assembling the T-90 last night. It's a really nice model, not much in the way of flash and it has very crisp detailing, which I guess is a feature of Khurasan, because the mid-tech evil infantry I ordered from them cleaned up fast with next to no mold lines or anything to complain about... There are, however, very large chunks of resin that you need to trim from the turret and the tracks. Some kind of a remnant from the casting process. If you're careful, it shouldn't be a problem. They aren't obfuscating any visual details and end up being hidden when the model is fully assembled. There is one issue though and it's how the T-90, in particular, scales up to my Team Yankee T-72s... Team Yankee T-72

So, as I've said in previous posts, I'm building a a force for a homebrew setting. The People's Republic of Megaslava, a space faring communist state in the Scutum Constellation is being built using Team Yankee and the Polish People's Army in lieu of getting into a build-your-own-army game. The reason I'm just going to use Team Yankee is because it's easier to find players for a common and available set of rules than to just push something like Future War Commander, even though it's a perfectly fine game, on them. And of course, the reason why I've concocted Megaslava as an imagi-nation is so I can do some light kitbashes to these thanks to give them a futuristic vibe... Because it's fun and I want to. The cool thing, for me anyway, is the variety of tanks that the Soviets built since the T-55 that, while different in a lot of ways, managed to maintain a very similar aesthetic. The Downward Spiral So I've been involved in the hobby for awhile now, gathering an admirable pile of figures and assembling the things with no real plan or logic behind it. Naturally, there's many unfinished projects littering drawers... Seeing this as a problem, I've decided to start this blog in the hopes that documenting the struggle of my addiction, I might be motivated to finish something for once. I decided recently to get into 15mm miniatures for a few reasons that better men have stated in other blogs... I.E.
