Khurasan T-90 size comparison to Team Yankee T-72

  • I went ahead and bought a T-90 and a T-64B from Khurasan miniatures, because they are cool and it would be fun to use them. I received them both yesterday and I got to work assembling the T-90 last night. It's a really nice model, not much in the way of flash and it has very crisp detailing, which I guess is a feature of Khurasan, because the mid-tech evil infantry I ordered from them cleaned up fast with next to no mold lines or anything to complain about... There are, however, very large chunks of resin that you need to trim from the turret and the tracks. Some kind of a remnant from the casting process. If you're careful, it shouldn't be a problem. They aren't obfuscating any visual details and end up being hidden when the model is fully assembled.

There is one issue though and it's how the T-90, in particular, scales up to my Team Yankee T-72s...

The tanks have similar length and you can hardly notice a thing from the top, you can probably pick out the nice detailing on the T-90's turret... And if you can excuse the bad photos...

The T-72 is a lot taller than the T-90. The real world height difference between the two tanks is about one inch. The difference between these two is pretty severe. My friends probably won't mind when I bring it to the table, but I can't unsee it.

Khurasan makes a great model here, can't find any faults with it specifically... But it doesn't match well with what is being put out by Battlefront. I don't see it as a game changing problem, but I know some of you guys like to know these things.

Thanks for reading this and I hope you found it useful.

  1. I bought T-55s from Khurasan (or maybe the Chinese Type 59) for my late Vietnam NVA force. I think they are much nicer than the Battlefront ones, but they do sit low on their treads. I put a shim in the attachment point for the treads to bring them up to height. They look dinky compared to M-60s and Centurions, but then they kind of are compared to those bruisers.

  2. You should post the dimensions of the models. The T90 is 6.86m long (hull) x 3.78m wide x 2.22m tall The T73 is 6.95m x 3.59m x 2.23m. The hull sizes look like they compare correctly. The T90 does look like It is not tall enough, but the picture is taken at an angle instead of straight on. 15mm is about 1:120 so the Ttwo would be about 18.6mm tall.

  3. Reached out to Khurasan Miniatures, specifically asking for the dimensions on their T-72 and T-64BV tanks models; the response I received was "they're 1/100 scale". When I asked if they could please give the actual physical dimensions, as I wanted to know if they would be compatible with my BF plastic T-72 and T-64, Khurasan replied "I've already answered your question". Sounds like the rest of their line may not be compatible with Battlefront's. Too bad to, as they had some models I would've like to pick up, though with that attitude not sure I'd buy from them now!
