PLA Moon Units

I got my hands on a War for Terra Nova Kickstarter box set, which contains starter armies for the North, South, CEF and Caprice... Sold off the Southern and CEF components to my dad and brother, respectively. It was tough giving up thr Earthnoid battle frames, but they're in good hands. Gotta say, the sculpts for the Northern Gears are kind of bad and I'm not sure I really want to do anything with them.

However, the Caprician Battlemounts are amazing. They look, as far as I can tell, identical to the original sculpts, but, you know... They're plastic. I got them all put together and primed up some Megiddo(?) Mounts and those little guys that I don't know the name of.

Here they are with paint on them:

Not going to say they're finished... Still going to have to base them. I plan to use GW textured paint, probably that grey rocky stuff, and then dry brush some lighter shade onto it. Also need to pick out some more details and work on some shading if I feel brave.

All in all, I'm happy with the paint jobs here and the models themselves make it easy to get some good looking units for tabletop tactical action.

I'll be using these things as Superior Armament Defensive Artillery units, or SADA, and they will be making an appearance in the home brew setting I'm working with. In the "historical" year of 2025, they're manufactured by the People's Liberation Army for combat operations in the Sea of Serenity, on the moon... However, they first saw combat in Kamchatka, when they ambushed a United Nations Observation Force that was monitoring the ceasefire between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China.

This has been a fun project and it feels great to actually sit down and start making painting progress on models after years of inactivity. I'm going to attribute it to the 15mm scale, it certainly made it easier and feels a lot less intimidating than 28s.
